How to use
mg/kg means “milligrams per kilogram of body weight per dose”. Take this value from the drug's package insert or the prescription: inserts usually state “X mg/kg per dose” or “X mg/kg per day divided into N doses”; if a daily amount is given, divide it by the number of daily doses before entering it here.
Formulas: dose per administration (mg) = weight (kg) × dose per kg (mg/kg); daily total (mg) = dose per administration × doses per day.
Common Pediatric Reference Doses
| Drug (pediatric) | Dose (mg/kg per dose) | Interval |
|---|---|---|
| Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) | 10–15 | every 4–6 hours |
| Ibuprofen | 5–10 | every 6–8 hours |
The figures above are general medical knowledge for reference only and are not a basis for medication; actual dosing must follow a doctor's advice and the drug's package insert.
